About the team
Track was built in 1949 by the Ruislip-Northwood Urban District Council at Northwood Hills Playing Fields. This was the first ever Council built track in the Country and was the very start of local authority interest in the sport. The track was opened in early 1949 with a Best Pairs Competition, being won by Ron Hawkwood & Den Peters of Harefield Pirates.
Track was 120 yards circumference.
Club Secretary; J. Carter, 9 Crossway, Pinner, Middlesex.
Raced in the First Round of the "World" Cup in 1949, beating Shaftsbury Broadsiders(London South West) 53.5 - 41.5 in the 1st leg. Top scorer: Dennis Mannucci 12.
Raced in the North West Middlesex League(one of the founding teams).
Team Manager: Johnny Andrews.
In 1949 the club had magnetic starting gates, public address system, and had regular crowds of 1,000 for their home matches.
1948/49 were the top team in the North West Middlesex League.
